Sharp presents a passionate and scholarly defence of England's indigenous musical heritage. Drawing upon his extensive fieldwork collecting songs from rural singers across the country, Sharp articulates the evolutionary origins of the folk song, distinguishing it from cultivated popular music as an organic expression of the working classes. His work not only sparked the second British folk revival but also sought to instil a sense of national pride and cultural continuity by preserving the melodies and lyrics of a disappearing agrarian world before they were lost to industrialisation.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Broadhursts Books","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55367444529491,"sku":"6148","price":120.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0960\/1469\/6787\/files\/20261012_120118.jpg?v=1791976759","url":"https:\/\/broadhurstsbooks.com\/products\/english-folk-song-some-conclusions-cecil-j-sharp-1st-edition","provider":"Broadhursts Books","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
