The original pictorial wrappers remain bright and structurally sound, exhibiting only light edge-wear and minor corner curling to the lower fore-edge of the front panel. The spine is entirely uncreased, maintaining a firm and square binding that points to extremely cautious previous readership. Internally, the text block is clean and free of ownership inscriptions, with the expected uniform age-toning to the page margins, typical of the paper stock utilised for this series. A highly presentable, well-preserved copy of a notoriously fragile paperback format.

Catalogue Note: This first UK paperback edition, issued as part of Studio Vista's celebrated 'Movie Paperbacks' series edited and designed by Ian Cameron, presents the complete working screenplays for two of Billy Wilder's most revered films. The text is lavishly illustrated throughout with a multitude of production stills and halftone frame enlargements closely integrated with the dialogue. Notably, these halftone matrices remain crisp and well-defined despite the inherent limitations of the uncoated, mass-market paper stock. It includes a striking frontispiece photograph of Wilder and Diamond during the filming of The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes.

While the hardback variant commands a significant premium, this paperback issue is becoming increasingly uncommon on the open market in tight, uncreased condition, making it a highly desirable acquisition for collectors of mid-century cinema history.

A brilliant compilation bringing together two of Billy Wilder and I.
