Fine: An excellent example for its age. Publisher’s original red cloth binding displays general sunning and age-related discolouration, though remains notably well-preserved overall without significant tears or damage. Gilt spine lettering remains clear and fully legible. Upper edge of the text block darkened from storage, though otherwise clean with crisp and well-preserved page edges for the period. Internally, pages remain tightly bound, clean, and tidy throughout. All twelve colour plates remain pristine.

Very Good	The book maintains its structural integrity, and has no major flaws such as tears to its binding or pages. It may, however, show signs of careful use, handling, or storage — small marks and creases, light foxing. Its dust jacket (if present) remains fully intact, but small tears may be present.
Good	A book that remains intact and readable with complete text pages, but shows moderate signs of wear and use to both the book and dust jacket (if present).
