Condition Report: Very Good. The book itself remains remarkably bright and sharply squared, with the original red cloth boards retaining their vivid hue and the black stamped lettering entirely unrubbed. The binding is decidedly tight and secure, showing only the most microscopic bumping to the extreme spine tips. Internally, the text block is predominantly clean, though it exhibits noticeable foxing to the page edges, most prominently along the top edge, which encroaches slightly into the margins of the preliminary leaves and title page. The unclipped dust wrapper (priced 7/6 net) is in Near Fine condition; it remains vibrant, crisp, and largely free of the typical edge wear or chipping, presenting exceptionally well for its age.

Catalogue Note: A true first edition, first impression of this classic W. E. Johns aviation adventure, distinguished by the "First Printed 1954" statement to the copyright page and the publisher's unclipped "7/6 net" price on the front flap of the dust wrapper.

The volume features a striking full-colour frontispiece and a black-and-white title page vignette by Leslie 'Studio' Stead, whose iconic illustrations became synonymous with the Biggles series during this era.
