Condition Report: Near Fine. This volume is excellently preserved, tightly bound in its original full niger morocco with robust, sharp raised bands and unrubbed hinges that evidence careful handling over the decades. The gilt lettering and double-fillet borders on the boards remain remarkably bright and unoxidised, retaining their original lustre against the rich russet leather. Internally, the text block is exceptionally clean and firm, with the handmade paper displaying no significant foxing, moisture damage, or reading wear. The top-edge gilt remains uniformly bright, while the deckled fore and bottom edges are crisp. The vibrant marbled endpapers are completely free from any cracking along the inner hinges, completing a highly attractive, structurally sound copy.

Catalogue Note: This handsome volume forms part of the celebrated Sussex Edition, definitively considered the most desirable and luxurious presentation of the author's collected works. Limited to 525 sets (of which 500 were for sale), the edition was carefully revised by the author in the final years of his life, representing his ultimate, definitive text.

The volume is beautifully bound by James Burn, featuring fine gilt tooling, raised bands in six compartments, and elegant marbled endpapers. Printed on high-quality handmade paper bearing a Ganesha watermark, the book showcases a superb tactile quality with its top-edge gilt and uncut lower and fore-edges.
