The original green cloth binding remains structurally sound and largely clean, exhibiting only minor shelf-wear to the spine ends and corners, while the gilt lettering to the spine remains bright and entirely unoxidised. The page block is tight, and the text is clean throughout, displaying only a hint of the light, uniform age-toning typical of the paper stock. However, as an ex-library volume, the book's condition is downgraded by several institutional marks: the front free endpaper bears a small star stamp alongside noticeable tape and glue residue from a removed library pocket or bookplate, and the title page features a prominent Sefton Library Services ink stamp. The original dust jacket is Very Good; it is unclipped and entirely whole, presenting mild rubbing to the panels, a touch of creasing along the top edges, and some gentle sunning to the spine, yet remaining a highly presentable example.
