Condition Report: Near Fine. The book has a number of small flaws, such as slight rubbing to the edges, but maintains its overall structural integrity without any major defects. The tight binding presents no lean, and the terracotta cloth boards remain remarkably bright with sharp corners. The gilt vine leaf motif to the front board is entirely crisp and unoxidised, demonstrating that this volume has been carefully protected from dampness or long-term sunlight exposure. Internally, the pages are clean and free of tears or heavy marks, containing only a neat, contemporary ownership signature to the front free endpaper. The original dust jacket is extraordinarily well-preserved, exhibiting vibrant colour and suffering only from barely perceptible wear to the extremities. It is now housed securely in a protective Mylar sleeve.

Catalogue Note: This is a true first edition, first impression, manufactured to the Authorised Economy Standard in post-war Britain. The volume features an elegant gilt vine leaf vignette to the front board, which is mirrored gracefully on the title page.
