Condition Report: Near Fine. A remarkably well-preserved example, securely bound in its original printed paper wrappers and still retaining the fragile original folded glassine over-wrapper. The glassine exhibits only slight age-toning and minor, almost imperceptible nicking to the extreme corners, fulfilling its intended purpose of protecting the pristine wrappers beneath. The spine remains uncreased and sharp, indicating the volume is likely unread. The untrimmed text block shows faint, natural age-toning to the deckled edges, while internally, the pages are wonderfully bright, fresh, and entirely free from foxing. The two-colour typography and woodcut vignettes remain striking and crisp throughout, making this an exceptional, collector-grade survival.

Catalogue Note: This beautiful limited edition was strictly restricted to a print run of just 560 copies, with this specific example being one of 400 printed on premium handmade Vélin d'Arches paper. The work is lavishly ornamented throughout with 194 charming woodcut illustrations and vignettes executed by the celebrated Swiss-born artist and illustrator Carlègle (Charles Émile Egli).

Printed by the esteemed master printer Léon Pichon, the volume boasts an elegant two-colour title page and exquisite typographic design typical of Pichon's fine press output. Retaining its original protective glassine wrapper in such complete, unblemished condition is highly unusual, rendering this an uncommonly scarce find on the open market in this state.
