Condition Report: Very Good. A handsome, tightly bound copy in full morocco, exhibiting minor external wear commensurate with its age. The joints are firm, though showing slight rubbing and superficial cracking near the head of the spine. The spine itself retains its sharp, unoxidised gilt lettering and raised bands, albeit with some minor scuffing and small losses to the extremities. The gilt edges remain remarkably bright and entirely unmarred. Internally, the text block is clean, crisp, and securely attached; however, the front pastedown displays notable surface skinning where a previous label or plate appears to have been removed, situated just beneath the ornate armorial bookplate.

Catalogue Note: This Second Edition of Clough’s Poems was published posthumously, featuring an introductory memoir that sheds light on his life and intellectual pursuits. The present copy is distinguished by an attractive full-morocco leather binding executed by Bickers & Son, London, as indicated by the discreet binder's stamp on the front turn-in.

The volume carries an interesting provenance, bearing the armorial bookplate of Albert Humphries Orme, complete with the Latin motto "Nec Cupias Nec Metuas" (Neither Desire Nor Fear). Furthermore, a neat mid-twentieth-century ownership inscription by one Irene Davies, dated 1955, is penned on the front free endpaper.
