Condition Report: Poor. This volume has suffered significant structural and cosmetic damage, most notably a large, crude repair using clear adhesive tape that spans the entire front board diagonally, concealing a severe tear that threatens the integrity of the cover. The original pictorial boards are heavily rubbed and toned with notable bumping and chipping to all corners and the spine ends, exposing the underlying board beneath. The rear board is further compromised by a prominent, extensive red crayon scribble that defaces the lower panel, alongside another patch of clear tape. While the binding remains tenuously attached, it is highly fragile, and the text block, though relatively clean with Elsie Thomas’s bright illustrations still intact, shows signs of heavy handling and age-related toning throughout.
