Condition Report: Very Good. The publisher's original decorative cloth binding remains remarkably bright and attractive, a testament to careful preservation. The olive-ochre boards are crisp, with the striking black, terracotta, and green botanical blocking retaining its vibrancy, and the gilt titling to the upper board entirely unoxidised. There is minor rubbing to the extremities, most notably light bumping to the spine ends and corners, but the binding remains tight and structurally sound. Internally, the book is very pleasing. The original endpapers are present, showing a neat 1883 presentation inscription to the front free endpaper alongside some localised spotting and mild offsetting. The text block is otherwise clean and firm, with the splendid chromolithograph frontispiece and internal wood engravings remaining crisp and bright.

Printed in London by William Clowes and Sons, Limited, this edition features a charming chromolithograph frontispiece of two girls playing with a dog, produced by the Religious Tract Society.
