The book is bound in its original publisher's blind-stamped brown cloth, exhibiting expected shelf-wear for its age, including bumping to the corners and slight fraying with minor loss at the spine ends. The striking gilt 'eagle and child' Stanley crest on the front board remains distinctly bright, contrasting well against the rubbed cloth. The binding remains structurally sound and tight. Internally, the pages present with scattered foxing and age-toning, particularly around the preliminary leaves and the steel-engraved frontispiece, but remain entirely legible, complemented by the dulled yet intact gilt to the page edges.
