Condition Report: Fine. A remarkably bright, well-preserved copy of this charming Folio Society production. The cream cloth boards remain entirely crisp and unblemished, with the red blocked illustrations and lettering retaining their original vibrancy without any sign of fading, toning, or surface rubbing. The spine is perfectly square, and the tightness of the binding suggests the book has been scarcely read. Internally, the Cordier Wove paper is immaculate, remaining entirely free from foxing, handling marks, or previous ownership inscriptions, ensuring the text and illustrations present flawlessly. The page edges remain perfectly clean and unspotted. The accompanying red slipcase is similarly superb, structurally robust and bright, showing only the most negligible shelf-wear to the extremities.

Catalogue Note: This is the beautiful 2008 Folio Society edition of The Little Grey Men, based on the 2004 Oxford University Press text (which itself incorporated minor emendations from the original 1942 Eyre & Spottiswoode publication). It features a new preface written specifically for this edition by acclaimed children's author Michael Morpurgo.

The volume is richly illustrated by the author himself, Denys Watkins-Pitchford (writing under the pseudonym 'BB'), whose evocative line drawings and lovely colour frontispiece capture the magic of the English woodland. The book was printed on high-quality Cordier Wove paper and bound by LEGO SpA in Vicenza, Italy, featuring a bespoke cloth binding blocked with a charming two-colour design by the artist.
