The original tan boards remain structurally sound but exhibit general shelf-wear indicative of a well-loved century-old children's book, including rubbing to the extremities and slight bumping to the corners. The spine is intact but shows minor wear and slight fraying at the head and tail, though the binding itself remains reasonably tight with no severe separation of the text block. The front cover's circular pictorial pastedown retains its brightness, with only faint surface scuffing. Internally, the pages are largely clean and supple, displaying occasional mild handling marks, faint spotting, and natural age-toning. A previous ownership inscription in pencil marks the front free endpaper, but the primary text and illustrations remain entirely unobstructed and vibrant.

Catalogue Note: Originally published in a continuous panoramic wallet format in 1906, The Story of a Fierce Bad Rabbit proved difficult for booksellers to stock and children to unfold without tearing. As a result, Frederick Warne & Co. re-issued the title in this standard bound-book format beginning in 1916. This particular copy is an early reprint from this standard-format era.

The presence of "Ltd." on the title page's publisher imprint indicates a publication date of 1919 or later, after the publishing house incorporated. The volume features the classic Beatrix Potter illustrated endpapers and all of the original charming, albeit cautionary, colour plates that have made her work a staple of early 20th-century children's literature.
