Condition Report: Near Fine. The book itself is remarkably well-preserved, boasting bright red cloth boards that remain tightly bound with sharp, unbumped corners and crisp, unoxidized black "P.A." monogram tooling to the front board. The spine features clear black lettering and the publisher's unicorn logo. The text block is exceptionally clean, tightly sewn, and entirely free of foxing, marks, or previous ownership inscriptions. The dust jacket retains vibrant, unfaded colours to the front panel and spine; it is entirely unclipped, still proudly displaying its original "11s. 6d. net" price on the front flap. The jacket shows only mild signs of its age, primarily consisting of minor edge-wear, trivial rubbing to the spine ends, and a few faint smudges to the stark white rear panel, which is typical for such a susceptible surface.

Catalogue Note: First edition, first printing of Pierre Audemars's classic mystery, expanding upon his established reputation for "wry humour" and "delicate precision". The volume is presented in its original red cloth binding with black stamping, characteristic of the era's thriller outputs.
