Condition Report Very Good. The publisher's original green cloth boards present well, though they exhibit mild shelf-wear, with slight bumping to the extremities and some gentle sunning along the spine. The gilt lettering to the spine remains highly legible but shows the characteristic light rubbing and oxidation expected of a wartime production. The binding remains sound, tight, and square, holding the text block firmly. Internally, the pages are bright and largely clean, free from egregious blemish, though a very light, occasional scattering of foxing and minor toning to the text block edges is present, consistent with the economy paper stock of the era. The frontispiece portrait remains fully intact and cleanly preserved. An altogether handsome, solidly constructed copy of this poignant memoir.
