Condition Report: Good. This copy has benefited from a professional re-casing, leaving the binding feeling tight, robust, and secure in the hand. The original green cloth boards show only minor scuffing and light shelf-wear to the extremities, while the gilt floral tooling to the front board remains unoxidised and pleasingly bright. Internally, the volume lacks the primary title page, opening directly onto the half-title, which exhibits some mild dusting and very faint, scattered foxing. However, this minor internal wear is entirely offset by the spectacular state of the 54 chromolithograph plates; each is securely bound, entirely free from the foxing that occasionally plagues the preliminaries, and preserved in pristine condition behind their respective tissue guards. All edges gilt.
