Fine: Original quarter-bound leather binding shows mild general wear, with slight rubbing to extremities. Leather remains clean, with a touch of wear at the head of the spine; gilt bright and legible. A small, faint stain to the front board; otherwise well-preserved. Binding square and firm. Internally, pages display gentle handling wear and age-related toning, but remain largely clean and bright. A very well-preserved and attractive copy.

Likely first edition, second issue (despite the “fourth edition” statement), published in London by John Ginger and Thomas Hurst in 1804, issued in original quarter-bound leather. Early 19th-century works of this nature are increasingly scarce, particularly when retaining original bindings and correct issue points. Copies are infrequently encountered on the secondary market in such well-preserved condition. A desirable example for collectors of early 19th-century literature and antiquarian works.
