Condition Report: Very Good. The original dust jacket remains notably bright and largely intact, exhibiting only minor nicks and gentle creasing to the spine extremities, alongside a short, closed tear to the upper rear panel. Crucially, the front flap remains unclipped, retaining the original 12s. 6d. net price. The underlying green boards are remarkably vibrant and clean, boasting sharp corners and only the slightest hint of pushing to the spine ends. The binding remains tight and square. Internally, the text block is exceptionally crisp and bright. A neat, standard previous ownership signature in ink is present to the front brown endpaper; otherwise, the pages are unmarked and beautifully preserved.

Catalogue Note: This is the first UK edition, first printing of Mildred Corell Luckhardt’s adaptation, originally issued in the United States two years prior.

The volume is beautifully elevated by the evocative, multi-toned illustrations of Gordon Laite, whose stylistic mid-century interpretation of the classic Christmas tale adds significant visual charm.

Copies of the true first UK edition are increasingly uncommon on the open market, particularly when retaining their original, unclipped dust jackets in such presentable, un-faded condition.
