Condition Report: Very Good. The volume is tightly bound in its original dark blue cloth boards, which remain remarkably sharp and clean with bright, unoxidised gilt lettering to the spine. The structural integrity of the binding is excellent and the text block is generally bright; however, there is notable, localised dampstaining and faint foxing present to the lower margin of the half-title page, which extends faintly onto the title page and facing margin. The original, unclipped dust jacket presents very well with strong, glossy colours, suffering only minor shelf-wear, slight rubbing to the corners, and a touch of creasing along the top edge and spine tail, with no significant chips or tears.

Catalogue Note: This 1989 edition by Bracken Books is a secondary reprint of Loomes's original 1985 study (initially published by David & Charles). The volume is comprehensively illustrated with over 400 black-and-white photographs and diagrams.
