Condition Report: Very Good book in a Good dust jacket. The volume itself presents very well, with the red cloth binding remaining tight, square, and structurally sound, showing only minor rubbing to the extremities. The black lettering and decorative linear border to the front board and spine remain relatively bold and distinct. Internally, the text block is remarkably clean and securely bound. Despite being printed on "Book Production War Economy Standard" paper, the pages have avoided heavy deterioration, showing only mild age-toning predominantly confined to the edges. The original pictorial dust jacket warrants a Good grading; it remains unclipped but exhibits noticeable wear, including creasing, chipping, and loss to the spine ends, alongside a prominent closed tear with associated paper loss to the upper right edge of the front panel. The spine panel of the jacket is also somewhat sunned.

Catalogue Note: First Edition, first printing. Produced under the "Book Production War Economy Standard," this volume serves as a fascinating physical example of immediate post-WWII British publishing constraints. The book features a printed dedication to "Arthur Catling (The Unconquered)."

Jeffery Farnol (1878–1952) was a leading figure in the popularisation of the Regency romance and historical swashbuckler. Heritage Perilous is the sixth instalment to feature his recurring Bow Street Runner character, Jasper Shrig. First editions of this late-career Farnol title are relatively common on the secondary market, though finding copies with their original, fragile war-economy dust jackets intact is becoming increasingly difficult.

Set in the perilous days of the late Georgian era, Heritage Perilous follows the adventures of Sam Felton, a plain-speaking sailor who unexpectedly inherits the title and wealth of the Earl of Wrybourne. Thrust into the treacherous and glittering world of high society, the newly minted Lord finds himself navigating a maze of temptation, aristocratic vanity, and cold steel.
