Condition Report: Near Fine. The publisher’s original blue cloth boards remain remarkably bright and fresh, with sharp corners and only the faintest suggestion of bumping to the spine ends. The gilt lettering and border tooling to the spine are entirely unoxidised and notably brilliant. The binding is firmly tight and square, displaying no reading lean. Internally, the text block is predominantly clean and crisp; however, there is a small, translucent wax-like spot to the centre of the title page which carries through to the copyright page on the verso. The text block edges show only very light, even age-toning typical of the paper stock. The original unclipped dust jacket (priced at 36s net) is in excellent condition, presenting vivid colours to the spine and panels with only marginal edge wear and minute rubbing to the spine ends, and is now fully protected in an archival mylar sleeve.

Catalogue Note: This is the First UK Edition. Edited and with an introduction by Samuel French Morse, this significant posthumous collection compiles Stevens' previously unpublished or uncollected poems, his two plays, and the prose aphorisms titled 'Adagia'.

Copies of the UK first printing in such bright, well-preserved condition, particularly retaining an unclipped dust jacket with unfaded spine colours, are becoming increasingly uncommon on the open market.
