The album is presented in its original gilt-stamped red cloth binding, which remains notably bright and attractive with only light rubbing to the extremities and slight bumping to the corners. The ornate gilt foliage tooling and lettering on the upper board remain entirely unoxidised and remarkably sharp, presenting beautifully. The binding is tight and structurally sound, holding the thick card leaves securely without any looseness to the hinges. Internally, the all-edges-gilt remains lustrous and unbroken. The card mounts show minimal foxing or toning, maintaining a clean aesthetic throughout. Crucially, the ten albumen prints themselves are in excellent condition; they exhibit strong contrast and rich tonal range without the excessive fading, yellowing, or silver mirroring that commonly afflicts photographs of this era. The neat, contemporary pencil captions beneath each image are clearly legible and add distinct charm.
