Condition Report: Good. The publisher's original green diaper-grain cloth remains pleasingly bright, with the gilt central monogram and spine lettering entirely unoxidised and sharply defined. The boards exhibit minor wear to the extremities, including light bumping and surface rubbing to the spine ends, some minor corner wear, and a tiny, unobtrusive puncture to the cloth on the lower front joint. Despite this, the binding remains perfectly firm and square, with no structural compromise or pulling to the hinges. The plain text block edges show typical age-related toning. Internally, the pages are well-preserved, exhibiting only some expected, light offsetting and minor foxing to the preliminary leaves, with the core text remaining clean and highly legible throughout.

Catalogue Note: This is a handsome early printing, presumed first thus, of the author's posthumous Poems, featuring the biographical memoir by his close friend F.T. Palgrave.

The volume is bound in the classic dark green diaper-cloth, elegantly decorated with blind and black-stamped ruling and a distinctive gilt cross roundel bearing the poet's monogram. The foot of the spine notably retains the original 6/- price stamp, a characteristic feature of retail bindings of the period.

Encountering this specific early edition in its original, un-rebacked cloth is somewhat uncommon on the open market.
