Bound in the publisher's original dark brown cloth with a striking gilt-stamped zodiacal and Masonic centerpiece to the upper board, the volume remains structurally sound with a remarkably tight binding. The exterior exhibits moderate shelf-wear, primarily consisting of minor rubbing and bumping to the corners and spine ends, though the intricate gilt tooling remains exceptionally bright and unoxidised. The blind-stamped paneling on the lower board is crisp. Internally, the patterned floral endpapers are largely clean, save for a noticeable blue ink mark on the front free endpaper. The text block is well-preserved; while a neat, contemporaneous ownership signature appears on the title page, the pages are otherwise bright and completely free from foxing, presenting a handsome, well-maintained survival of a fragile nineteenth-century esoteric text.

Catalogue Note: First edition. The title page confirms this is the original D. Appleton printing, predating the numerous modern facsimiles and reprints. The upper board features a distinctive gilt hexagram enclosing an ankh, surrounded by the signs of the zodiac, immediately establishing the esoteric themes within.
