Condition Report: Near Fine. The structural integrity of this volume is excellent, with a tight, square binding and sharp red cloth boards that exhibit minimal shelf-wear. The black spine label and its gilt tooling remain exceptionally bright and entirely unoxidised. Internally, the pages are crisp and clean, showing only the faintest, entirely natural toning to the extremities without any foxing. The dust jacket is remarkably vibrant and fully intact; it retains its rich colours without any fading to the spine. It shows only the most minor signs of handling, limited to slight, barely perceptible rubbing and creasing at the head and tail of the spine, fully justifying its high grade.

Catalogue Note: First edition, first impression. This is the penultimate, eleventh volume in Powell’s monumental A Dance to the Music of Time series. The striking dust jacket features the quintessential illustrative work of James Broom-Lynne, who designed the covers for the entire sequence. While the book is a true first printing, the unclipped dust jacket flap bears a "Heinemann Group £2.95 net" price sticker, obscuring the original £2.25 printed price; this is a common state indicating the publisher adjusted the price for copies remaining in stock during the inflationary period of the 1970s. As a later volume in an incredibly successful and established series, this edition benefited from a large initial print run and is consequently fairly common on the open market.

Temporary Kings shifts the narrative to Venice in 1958, following Nicholas Jenkins as he attends a cultural conference. Amidst the stunning backdrop of the Palazzo Bragadin, old acquaintances reunite and new intrigues unfold.
