Condition Report: Very Good. The binding remains remarkably tight and square for a volume of its age. The publisher's original blue bevel-edged cloth is intact, though it exhibits moderate shelf-wear, including minor bumping and rubbing to the spine ends and corners. The elaborate gilt and black pictorial stamping to the front board remains mostly bright and well-defined, while the plain rear board shows some general scuffing, minor blemishes, and a touch of dulling. The all-edges-gilt text block is bright, though with some minor tarnishing. Internally, the hinges are sound. The text pages and preliminary leaves display scattered foxing, primarily restricted to the early and concluding sections of the book. The tissue guard to the frontispiece remains present and intact.

This early reprint is presented in its elaborate, publisher's original blue bevel-edged cloth binding. It features six striking black-and-white plates, including the tissue-guarded frontispiece, by the renowned illustrator Stanley L. Wood, who regularly collaborated with Boothby.
