Condition Report: Fine. The binding remains remarkably tight, presenting square and true with sharply pointed corners and an absolute absence of shelf-wear to the extremities. The grey publisher's boards are clean and vibrant, complemented by gleaming, unoxidised gilt lettering to the spine. Internally, the pages are crisp, bright, and completely free from foxing, handling marks, or creases, retaining a highly unread quality. The original unclipped dust jacket is similarly pristine, retaining its deep blue colour without any sunning to the spine, and shows no chipping, rubbing, or creasing to the edges, presenting a truly exceptional, collector-grade copy.

Catalogue Note: First edition, first impression. Flat-signed by the author, Kazuo Ishiguro, in black ink to the title page without dedication.

While the standard trade edition of this title is readily available, true first UK printings bearing the author's signature are highly desirable on the open market and continue to hold steady collector appeal, particularly following Ishiguro's Nobel Prize in Literature.

The Buried Giant begins as an elderly couple, Axl and Beatrice, set off across a troubled land of mist and rain in the hope of finding a son they have not seen in years. In a post-Arthurian Britain populated by ogres and dragons, the population is gripped by an amnesiac 'mist' that obscures their memories. Sometimes savage, often intensely moving, Kazuo Ishiguro's masterful novel explores the delicate balance between memory and forgetting, and how nations and individuals reconcile with a traumatic past.
