Condition Report: Very Good. The volume presents well in its original green cloth, which remains clean and structurally tight with only minor bumping to the extremities and slight softening at the spine ends. The text block is square and sound, though there is some light dusting to the top edge and scattered, mild foxing throughout the preliminaries and page margins. The hinges remain uncracked, and the binding is reassuringly firm. The original dust-jacket is unclipped (retaining the "6/- NET" price to the front flap) and vibrant, though it does exhibit some light rubbing to the panels, shallow chipping at the spine head and tail, and minor creasing along the top edges. Internally, the book features a lengthy, sprawling gift inscription in blue ink on the half-title page, alongside a secondary ownership inscription ("To Joanne From Auntie Edna, Oct. 1950") to the front free endpaper. Overall, a pleasing, well-preserved copy of a scarce title.

Catalogue Note: This is a scarce First Edition of Elleston Trevor's charming woodland adventure. While Trevor is perhaps best remembered today for his adult espionage thrillers (often under the pseudonym Adam Hall) and the classic aviation survival novel The Flight of the Phoenix, his earlier career was heavily populated with children's anthropomorphic fiction, notably the Happy Glade and Wumpus series.

The volume is delightfully illustrated throughout with line drawings by J. Thorn. Copies in their original, unclipped dust-jackets have become increasingly uncommon on the open market, making this a highly desirable addition for collectors of mid-century children's literature or Trevor's early works.
