Condition Report: Very Good. The volume remains tightly bound in its original publisher’s orange cloth, retaining strong corners and solid hinges, though exhibiting mild bumping to the spine ends. The text block is structurally sound, with leaves remaining largely bright; however, there is notable offset browning and foxing to the endpapers, resulting directly from contact with the dust jacket flaps. Minor, scattered foxing is also present along the text block edges. The original, unclipped dust jacket is preserved in Very Good condition, displaying minor edge-wear, light rubbing to the corners, and slight chipping at the spine head, alongside mild general age-toning to the rear panel and reverse.

Catalogue Note: This is a true First UK Edition of Eric Ambler’s mid-century thriller. The book is complete with its original dust jacket, featuring the striking patterned design by Judith Bledsoe, and notably retains the original "13s 6d NET" pricing on the front flap.

While copies of Ambler’s post-war titles are relatively available, finding an example with a surviving, unclipped dust jacket that has not suffered significant sunning or major loss is becoming increasingly uncommon on the open market.
