Condition Report Fair. The leather binding lacks its front board, exposing the marbled front endpaper. The spine and rear board remain intact and securely attached. There is moderate wear to the extremities, with cracking visible along the joints and typical bumping to the corners of the rear board. The spine exhibits surface rubbing; however, the contrasting black title label is clean and completely intact, with its gilt lettering and surrounding tooling softened yet still clearly visible. Internally, the text block remains securely bound despite the external loss to the binding. The pages show faint, age-related toning and light handling wear, accompanied by scattered foxing throughout the text. A crucial redeeming feature is the tipped-in folding map, which is present, complete, and fully intact, though displaying expected foxing. Overall, this is a complete, serviceable working copy that would be an excellent candidate for a sympathetic rebind.

Catalogue Note This is the corrected third edition of Nathaniel William Wraxall’s popular travel narrative. Issued during the late eighteenth century, the work capitalised on a growing British fascination with Northern European politics, society, and court culture during the late Enlightenment.

A significant point of value for this copy is the retention of its original folding map, titled "An Accurate Map of the Countries described in Wraxall's Tour through the Northern Parts of Europe". Such maps are frequently excised, torn, or heavily damaged in surviving market copies, making complete texts highly desirable.
